With its fast-paced gameplay, customisable characters, and challenging opponents, Basketball Stars has become one of my most memorable projects I worked on.
As my second big game in Miniclip I got into the Basketball Stars project. It was already launched and the game was still growing, with us trying to add features to keep the players engaged.
The Miniclip game is an online basketball game where players can compete in virtual basketball matches against other players or the computer. The game features simple graphics and controls that allow players to dribble, shoot, and dunk the ball.
In the game, players can customise their player’s appearance, including their jersey colour, hairstyle, and shoes. They can also choose to play in different game modes such as 1-on-1, 2-on-2, or tournaments.
As players progress through the game, they can earn points and unlock new skills and abilities to improve their gameplay. The game is designed to be addictive, with fast-paced action and challenging gameplay that keeps players engaged and coming back for more.
The aspect that involved me mostly was the character customisation, in which I contributed also by researching the fashion trends and the graphics for the clothing.
A funny things is that some of the clothes are based on my wardrobe, giving real life references to the artists.
I had to go back to the project even later, after Football Strike got release, simply because this game had still the potential to be improved, by following the idea of giving stats to the basketballs.
A feature that came to us in the Design department was the basketball arcade mini-game which was later implemented as a real feature.
Overall, the Miniclip basketball game is a fun and entertaining way to experience the excitement of basketball from the comfort of your own phone.
